In light of Hurricane Irene, we wanted to update you with the latest information regarding FYSOP registration and fall move-in.

FYSOP registration will begin as scheduled on Monday, August 29th at 12 pm in the George Sherman Union (775 Commonwealth Ave.). FYSOP staff members will be at the registration table until 8pm.  Please call our office if you will be arriving after 8pm.

Boston University is making every effort to have your academic year on-campus housing assignment available on Monday, August 29th beginning at 4 pm. Some rooms may be available to move into prior to 4 pm.  Other rooms, especially if occupied by summer students, may not be available until late afternoon. Please check in with our office for the most current move-in information. We will be posting information through our various social media outlets as well as providing information at our registration table.

After completing FYSOP registration, students should report to their residence hall and check-in.  Family members will be issued a temporary wristband that will permit access past security stations until midnight.  After midnight, those with wristbands will need to be accompanied by their FYSOP students.

FYSOP Opening Ceremonies has been moved to 9:00 pm on Monday, August 29th. All FYSOP students should go to Marsh Plaza at 8:00 pm to meet with their FYSOP groups and leaders.  Groups will then head over to Opening Ceremonies in the George Sherman Union’s Metcalf Ballroom (2nd floor).

If you are unable to arrive for FYSOP on Monday, do not worry. We still want you to take part in FYSOP. Please let us know of any changes in your travel plans as soon as possible. We will make every effort to accommodate students with late arrival airport pickups.

If you arrive on Tuesday-Friday, students should go to their Residence Life Office first and check into their academic year on-campus housing assignment – regardless of arrival time.  Once your belongings are moved in, please come to the Community Service Center. The CSC office is located on the 4th floor of the George Sherman Union. Our office will be open between 9 am and 9 pm to register for FYSOP. The CSC staff will then connect you with your FYSOP group and leaders.  Please call our office if you will be arriving after 9pm and we will tell you where to meet us in the morning.

The Community Service Center encourages everyone to make personal safety priority number one.  We want to ensure your journey to Boston University and FYSOP is safe and comfortable.

Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions, comments or concerns.

Thank you so much for the update. We were checking all weekend on the website we were referred to check throughout the weekend for updates, but it was never updated. We are completely stranded in Vermont with absolutely no way out of our little town that has mass devastation. We have no phones, but do have internet because of our generator. We are being told that the National Guard is making their way in to help with several hundred people. We will get there just as soon as we can!
